What the Opportunity Board is
Your Opportunity Board is a page in your Solo 401k tools that lists the things your plan could be doing for you right now, each with a dollar value next to it. It reads your plan's own facts, such as whether you have a plan bank account linked and which service tier your plan is on, and shows only the opportunities your plan has not captured yet.
The board is new. Today it holds two opportunities, and more are on the way, so expect it to grow.
Where to find it
After you sign your 2026 plan amendment in your Solo 401k portal, you land on the board automatically. You can also open it any time from your portal. It uses the same login as your portal; there is no second account to create.
Signing the amendment is still required by December 31, 2026, whether or not you use the board. See What Is the SECURE Act 2.0 Amendment?
How to read the board
The scoreboard at the top adds up what is on the board: the potential value of everything you have not captured yet, what you have unlocked, and what you have captured. A toggle switches the figures between this year and ten years.
Each card is one opportunity, with its name, a one-line description, and its estimated value for your plan. A New badge means you have not opened it yet.
Your time counts as money. Many opportunities save you hours, not only dollars. The board prices your time at $100 an hour until you tell it your own figure, and every estimate shows its math so you can see where the number comes from.
New, Unlocked, Captured
Every opportunity moves through three stages, shown at the top of its page.
New. The board has found it and put a first estimate on it. Click Unlock This to open it and run the numbers with your own inputs.
Unlocked. You can see the estimate, the math behind it, and the steps to capture it. Each step says about how long it takes and when to do it. Only the next step shows a button, so you always know what to do next.
Captured. You finished the steps and the value is yours. Some steps confirm themselves when your plan's records show they are done; others you mark done yourself. A captured opportunity leaves the board's list of things to do and its value moves into the Captured total.
The opportunities on the board today
Open a bank account for your plan
An FDIC insured checking account in your Solo 401k trust's name, with free initial checks, debit cards, wires, ACH transfers, and QuickBooks integration, through our banking partner Titan Bank. The estimate counts the fees and the hours it saves you compared with the account you use today.
Start your prefilled application (about 5 minutes). We send Titan your application, filled in from your plan.
Verify your identity and sign with Titan (about 20 minutes, within a day). Look for an email from Titan Bank with a PIN, an identity check, and the account agreement to e-sign. If it does not arrive, call Titan at 888-360-1300.
Link the opened account (about 5 minutes, 1 to 3 days later). Connect it in your Solo 401k portal so its balance tracks itself. This step confirms itself once the account is linked, and that captures the opportunity.
Keep at least $500 across your Titan accounts combined to avoid a $14.95 monthly fee. Up to 25 incoming and 25 outgoing domestic wires a month are complimentary. If you close the account within a year of opening it, a $200 closure fee applies. Some restrictions and other fees may apply.
Activate Core Compliance
Plan compliance is your responsibility as the plan administrator, and Core makes it easy: your records and your annual compliance are kept in order with less of your time. The estimate compares the time Core saves you with its cost.
Upgrade to Core (about 5 minutes). Switch your plan from Docs Only to Core on your portal's Billing page. This step confirms itself from your billing.
Confirm your plan records (about 45 minutes, this week). Confirm contributions, distributions, and valuations so your annual compliance is pre-filled accurately.
If your plan is already on Core, the card reads Core is active and skips the upgrade. If your Core plan ended because it was canceled or a payment failed, the card asks you to reactivate it on the Billing page first.
Questions people ask
Why am I seeing the board right after signing?
Signing the amendment keeps your plan documents current. The board is the next step: what your plan can do for you now that the paperwork is done. The block at the top of the board explains this, and the Why am I seeing this? link brings it back if you closed it. The amendment you just signed is in your portal under Documents.
Are the dollar figures real?
They are estimates built from your inputs and your plan's facts, and every one shows its math. Change an input and the figure changes. They are not a promise, and they are not tax or investment advice. Confirm anything that affects your taxes with your CPA.
Why don't I see an opportunity a friend sees?
The board hides what your plan has already captured. If you already have a linked plan bank account, or your plan is already on Core, those cards do not appear.
Can I change the value of my time?
Yes. The board uses $100 an hour until you set your own figure, and your estimates update with it.
Do I have to do anything here?
No. The board is there when you want it. Nothing on it is required, and nothing happens to your plan unless you take a step.
Something looks wrong, or I am stuck on a step
Use the chat button on the board itself. Our team sees your plan details with your message, so you do not have to explain which plan you mean.
